I filed bankruptcy in 1997. I have had no late payments since filing. I purchased a home and car. I have also gotten a few department store credit cards to try rebuilding my credit. However, I have not been able to get a credit card. Can you please explain how this bankruptcy is still hanging over my head almost 10 years after the filing? Do you have any suggestions on how I can get a credit card?
Answer:
The period of time during which bankruptcy has been staying in your credit report depends on the chapter you had. If you had ch.13, it must be 10 years. To move away the record you should go to the credit bureau and dispute it. Another way out is a personal application to the bank, so that you will be able to show your behaviour for the recent time and convince the bank to consider you a reliable customer.

I want credit card apply on line and to get also
Answer:
If you know your credit score, choose a card according to it and click the link 'Apply' by the card. Fill out the application form and it will be sent to the bank which will consider it and send you a reply in a while.

I have non exicting credit how would i go about applying for a credit card and get approved?
Answer:
Apply for one of the secured credit cards to get a start to your credit and a small credit limit. THe only thing that will depend on you is how accurate you will pay your balance.

I have no credit, how do I apply for a credit card and get approved?
Answer:
If you want to establish credit, you can apply for a card with a cosigner or for a secured credit card , the latter being more preferable. Banks like Orchard have guaranteed approval cards for no credit, so you shouldn't be afraid of applying for one of them.

Answer:
That evidently means you should find the card you have been preselected for and apply for it (you must have been given the instructions).

which credit cards use experian to research your credit worthiness and approval?
Answer:
This kind of information can be found here - http://www.creditboards.com/mambo/. But bear in mind that in most cases banks regard the lowest score of three.

I have an Experian credit score of 610. What are my credit card options and what credit limits are avaialble? If the score reaches 620 to 630 what cards are available?
Answer:
First of all, I'd like to note that when choosing a credit card, you should take into account the lowest of the three scores. 610 - is poor credit, 620 - 630 - fair credit, so search for the cards accordingly.

Why did you guys decline my application? My credit is poor, but I need to get it re-established, help.
Answer:
Dear Natacha,
it was the bank that denied your application, and it was probably because you qualified for a card for which your credit was not elegible. So you are recommended to get your credit report and apply for a card that corresponds to your credit score.

I have a citgo credit card and I would like to know how I can sign up to pay on line. Please advise.
Thank You, Mrs. Janice Hart
Answer:
Try to find information about it at the official site for Citgo. Or there should be something in the terms&conditions of the card you are having. you may also call the bank.

After having a ch.7 discharged, why is it easier to get a car loan to rebuild credit versus a credit card? Why don't department stores want to help rebuild credit. Last question, I have been actively paying on a payday loan that reports to the credit bureau every month, why does this not seem like its helping me when I apply for other types of credit?
Answer:
You see, when a credit card company or a bank is making a decision, whether to give you a credit or not, they see your credit report with this terrifying record - bankruptcy. So they are afraid to trust you. To convince somebody to give you credit sometimes you should go there and show your latest credit report and prove you are a reliable customer.
