Can I make a purchase with my credit card if I threw the card away but the account is still active?
Answer:
It all depends on where and what you are going to buy. On the one hand you don't need to show the plastic card itself to shop online or by the phone with it. On the other - to prevent credit card frauds or identity theft many merchants now require the CVV number (the 4-digit number, printed in the back of the card) to ensure that you really are the card-owner. And of course you will not be able to go to the store because you won't have the card itself. It also must be emphasized that it was a very bad idea to throw the card away because someone could use it in your name. That's why we recommend you to contact your bank as soon as possible and ask them to issue you another one.
