Hello. Presently I'm carrying a balance on a Sears store card from a No payment, No interest financing promotion, which is expiring in the next couple of months. I have excellent credit, but I am not in a position to pay of this store card. I recently received a credit card offer from Chase with 0% APR for 15months on balance transfers, no balance transfer fee. I am thinking of applying for this card, with the intention of not doing any purchases with this card, but just take the time it allows to pay the balance off. I will be paying off the balance for sure before the 0% promotion expires. Is this advisable and/or is this a good deal? |

Answer:
It’s true that department store credit cards charge higher rates than the usual bank credit cards. Therefore it’s always recommendable to switch to regular credit cards with lower rates as soon as you have this possibility. With an excellent credit you won’t face any trouble with it.
As far as it comes from your inquiry, you’ve received pre-approved credit card invitation for one of balance transfer cards. If you agree to obtain the card offered you should contact your credit card issuer customer service and say you’d like to activate your card. Using 0% APR intro period for balance transfer operation can really result in saving money. Thus apply for the card and save money for something you want to buy! |
