All the information concerning your credit history is reflected in your credit report. Each lender that issues you a card or a loan informs three credit bureaus - Experian, Equifax and Transunion - about it. In practice some lenders inform only one of the bureaus, that's why the data in three bureaus may differ. Thus, it is recommended that you request your reports from all three bureaus regularly and check them for any inaccuracies and omissions. You have the right to request the reports for free once in 12 months. If someone gas received a card in your name, it is definitely a crime, because you will have to pay bills on the card someone else is using. If you have become a victim of identity theft or any other fraud you should contact the bank immediately! Contact the fraud departments of each of the three major credit bureaus and tell them to flag your file with a fraud alert, including a statement that creditors should call you for permission before they open any new accounts in your name. |
