I have a FICO score of 701. I am a little scared to apply for a credit card because I completed the CCCS program last year and have not applied for any credit cards since. I did finance a new car last year with no problem but was unsure as to how the credit card world looks at me now. Do you have any suggestions as to what card might be best to apply for now?
Answer:

You did get your credit score hurt while you went through CCCS but now that you've completed the program and paid off all of your debts, you can be a favorable applicant. So, if there is not a bankruptcy record in your file and you haven't been late on any of your bills for at least the last year, you can search through a range of reasonable credit cards available on our website.

But to increase your approval chances, we advise you start with cards for average credit issued by Capital One Bank. Such credit cards have a manageable credit limit and reasonable terms and rates which help you avoid falling into a new debt.

Capital One Platinum - Visa is a low APR credit card for people with a stale income, a valid credit score and no bad payments of late. Capital One Standard Platinum offers a no annual fee deal attended by extensive Platinum benefits. The same eligibility requirements apply with this offer.

If for the reason of past debts you get turned down by Capital One, your only option is to still improve your credit. For this purpose, consider Centennial Gold MasterCard®/Visa from First PREMIER Bank, a credit card for rebuilding/reestablishing one's payment records. In a while of responsible payments, you'll become eligible customer for any bank's good credit card.
