My husband and I had a bankruptcy 2 years ago last Sept (discharge). We now have a credit score of around 660 each. There are still a few items that have been taken care of, but have not been removed from report. After that is accomplished I would guess we should be around 700 score.
On our online report a negative factor was that we only have one bank credit card, so a second one I think would help us. What credit card companies would be right for us? I don't want to apply for several cards, because that would be a killer on our score. We've worked very hard in the last 2 years to improve our score. Before that problem we had A 1 credit. Please advise any help would be appreciated.
Answer:
As far as I see, you take care of your credit rating, but I'd like to point out the importance of having all your credit reports equal. That means, before you decide to apply for a next credit card, you should see if all the invalid or incorrect items are removed and the missing items are included. Thus you won't have to worry about which report shows a better credit rating.
According to the credit score you indicate, you are on the borderland between fair and good credit, so you should be careful when applying, as some banks can refuse to give you a good credit card. On the other hand, you can be approved for a good credit card, but the terms will be worse according to your credit score. So, I would advise you to apply for a credit card from our list of fair credit card applications. There you can find credit cards from Capital One and First Premier bank.
So, look through the cards and shoose the ones that will meet your and your husband's needs. Good luck!
