all my 3 credit scores between 635 to 649 - i know i have FAIR credit but not a good credit yet - how long does it take to improve all my 3 scores to "good credit" level while i am repaying the student loan and car loan? thank you
Answer:
Indeed, to be eligible for American Express or Discover credit cards, it is necessary to possess good-to-excellent credit (660-749 or 750-850 scores). The credit line, fees and rates and credit card's benefits will be determined by the amount of the credit rating.
It is really of utter importance to keep all the three credit reports equal. Credit card companies are very concerned about this fact and, as a rule, they look at the lowest one, before making a credit decision.
The time of putting your credit reports in order depends on why they are different. To get a clear picture of your situation, you need to order the copies of your reports and check them on the subject of any inaccuracies and incorrect information. If you find any write a disputing form and support it with the necessary documentation. If the credit bureaus just haven't updated the information concerning the amount of your scores, they are supposed to do it within 30 days.
If it's the case of negative items, it can affect your credit score much more quickly than positive items. Late payments can negatively affect your score in just a few months, whereas paying bills on time may take 6 to 12 months to generate a significant improvement in your score.
Anyway, do your best to increase your credit rating. If you decide to apply for a fair credit card, you are welcome to choose from our cards for fair credit. If your credit appears to be good, be sure to find a credit card, designed for you, in the best overall cards section.
