Hello, I have never had a credit card before and I have no established credit history. I’ve recently been planning on getting a credit card so I can begin to establish my credit profile and I’m interested in applying for the Hot Topic credit card, but I’m not sure if I would have any chance of being approved for it. Do you think I should apply for this card?

Unfortunately, I do not believe you would be able to gain approval for the Hot Topic credit card if you are completely new to the world of credit and have no established credit history. When you go to apply for the Hot Topic credit card on their website, the fine print states “If you are 18 years of age and have a major credit card in your name, you may apply for a Hot Topic Guest List Credit Card…” Based on this, someone in your position would be able to obtain the Hot Topic credit card. Instead, think about building your credit with a card designed for that.
