News: Alaska Air and Aer Lingus Set to Partner - Credit-Land.com

Alaska Airlines Visa cardholders may be able to use their miles on Aer Lingus, once the two carrier's partner up this spring. If the deal goes through, customers will be able to use frequent flyer miles with either airline. The news was announced in an article in the Seattle Times, featuring an interview with Stephan Kavanagh, the CEO of Aer Lingus.

Kavanagh acknowledged recently meeting up with Brad Tilden, the CEO of Alaska, and that in the spring they would be making an announcement about their partnership. “That means Aer Lingus and Alaska frequent flyer miles will be usable across the two airlines, and Seattle connections can be booked along with the Dublin flight,” reported the Seattle Times.

This news comes at a time when Aer Lingus was already set to begin offering direct service between Dublin and Seattle in May, giving travelers from Ireland an easy way to see sights like the Space Needle and Pike Place Market. Seattle area residents will also enjoy easier access to Dublin through the direct route.

New Aer Lingus Visa Signature

This partnership comes on the heels of the news that the Avios Group will be launching their new Aer Lingus Visa Signature card this spring.

Once this card is available, customers can earn three Avios for every buck they spend when traveling with Aer Lingus, as well as British Airways, LEVEL, OpenSkies and Iberia.

They can also get a companion ticket if they spend $30,000 in a year, as well as getting access to other benefits.

The Alaska Airlines Visa Signature

With the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card, customers can earn three miles per dollar spent both with the carrier and Virgin Airlines. They earn one mile per dollar on all other purchases.

They can also get a sign-up bonus of 30,000 miles. During the first three months of having the card, they can get a companion ticket once they spend $1,000 or more with their card. They do not have to deal with blackout dates with this offer.

Miles do not expire with this card, and there is no mileage cap to deal with.

The card comes with some other travel benefits too, including one free checked bag. This benefit is applicable for up to six people in the cardholder's party as long as they are traveling under the same reservation.

There is a $75 annual fee for this card.
