American Express Renews Delta Deal

American Express and Delta Air Lines have signed a multi-year extension to continue issuing their co-branded credit card.

With this new agreement, Delta will also continue to participate in the American Express Membership Rewards program and has lifted a cap on the annual limit it recently imposed on how many points could be transferred from American Express to the Delta SkyMiles program.

People carrying the American Express Platinum and the Delta Reserve Card will still be able to refresh and relax at the Delta Sky Club, the airline’s network of airport lounges.

This renewal is a way for members to continue to access services, while allowing Amex and Delta to develop additional programs.

“Delta’s extended agreement with American Express not only means that we will continue to offer the industry-leading products and services customers have come to enjoy, but also that we will jointly develop innovative new programs that provide access to more of the things they value most,” said Glen Hauenstein, Delta’s Chief Revenue Officer.

The benefits remain the same

Delta and American Express have been working together since 1996, when they began offering customers co-branded credit cards.

These co-branded cards let people earn Delta Sky Miles, as well as take advantage of certain benefits and perks including: priority boarding, free checked bags, and airport lounge access.

This renewal may mean that more benefits are on the way. “We’re very pleased to extend our strategic partnership with Delta in a way that will deliver compelling value to our mutual customers and help to ensure that Card Members get more with Membership,” said Josh Silverman, President of Consumer Products & Services at American Express.

American Express is a multinational financial services corporation headquartered in New York City. Amex is well known for its credit card, charge card, and traveler’s cheques businesses.

Delta Air Lines is headquartered at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, which is also its largest hub. They fly to 319 destinations in 59 countries, and service 165 million customers a year. Delta Sky Miles is their rewards program.
