How Citi Can Help You Hang With Alicia Keys and Other Top Celebs

Have you seen the latest Citi commercial – the one where Jack is dumped by his girlfriend Lauren, who accuses him of being too boring? He goes to the Citi Private Pass website, and is next seen taking a cooking class with Giada De Laurentiis and hanging out with Alicia Keys at a concert. “Who’s boring now?” he asks as the commercial ends.

So how does that work, exactly?

The Citi Private Pass program is available to anyone who has a Citi card, whether it’s a Visa, American Express, or MasterCard. It offers exclusive access to entertainment events like presales of tickets to popular concerts, preferred seating at all kinds of events, and VIP access at Citi-sponsored happenings. Many Citi customers don’t even know about these promotions and events, but if you have a Citi credit or debit card in your wallet, you can go to the Private Pass website and find plenty of options, whether you are interested in sports, music, live theater, or dining.

New this Fall

Events added to the Citi Private Pass lineup this fall include the chance to watch a Sunday night football game from the comfort of John Madden’s personal production facility and a night out at Restaurant Daniel on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, featuring a dinner specially prepared by Chef Daniel Boulud.

Citi Private Pass is unveiling a major marketing campaign to raise customer awareness of the program, and new commercials are only part of it. Watch for print and digital advertisements in places like Bryant Park in New York City, The Grove in Los Angeles, and Chicago’s Ogilvy Station. Citibank branches will also feature ads for Private Pass, so next time you’re withdrawing cash from a Citi ATM, pay attention to the welcome screen, where there is likely to be information about upcoming Private Pass events.

Celebrities who will be participating in the Private Pass campaign, or who have been part of it in the past include singers Gladys Knight and Santana, sports legends David Ortiz and Cal Ripken, Jr., and celebrated chefs Giada DeLaurentiis and Daniel Boulud.

Said DeLaurentiis of shooting the Private Pass commercial, “It was fun to show the kind of intimate and interactive culinary experiences Citi customers can enjoy. I’m always excited to share my passion for food, favorite recipes and techniques in the kitchen.”

Ralph Andretta, head of co-brands and loyalty and Citi cards, said in a press release, “Whether our customers want to see their kids’ joy in playing with baseball legends or seeing their favorite band, we’re offering exclusive access to experiences of a lifetime. These ads show how anyone with a Citi credit or debit card can get more music, sports and dining.”

For anyone who doesn’t have a Citi card, a great option to sign up for is the Citi Dividend Platinum Select, currently offering a $100 cash back sign-on bonus for customers who spend just $500 in the first three months they have the card. It also offers five percent cash back in rotating categories that change every three months, and one percent cash back on all other purchases year-round.

Once you have the card, or if you have any other Citi credit or debit card, go to www.citiprivatepass.com to sign up for a weekly Private Pass newsletter detailing upcoming cardholder opportunities, so you don’t miss the cooking class, concert, or sports event of your dreams. Citi card holders don’t pay any extra fees to access the Private Pass program, so anyone with a Citi card should make sure to take advantage of it.
