News: Chase Freedom Customers Getting Cash Back When Using Mobile Wallets - Credit-Land.com

There is now another way for people with the Chase Freedom credit card to earn rewards – using their mobile wallet to make a purchase. Chase has added the Mobile Wallets Category to their rewards earning options, letting cardholders earn 5% cash back when using Chase Pay, Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay during the first quarter of 2018.

Cardholders can earn rewards on up to $1,500 in combined purchases made in the categories rolled out each quarter. “We want Chase Freedom cardmembers to try -- and enjoy -- the convenience of mobile wallets,” said BJ Mahoney, General Manager of Chase Freedom.

“They can maximize their rewards not only by paying for necessities, but also by splurging, like for their favorite coffee, when using a mobile wallet,” he said.

More categories for the beginning of the year revealed

Besides earning 5% back when using a mobile wallet, people can earn the same amount back when pulling up to the pump at gas stations.

The other category that earns people cash back is when using their Chase Freedom card to pay for internet and cable services, including:

  • Internet

  • Cable

  • Satellite television

  • Radio

  • Cellular

  • Wireless data

  • Landline

These categories are will be live from January 1 until March 31, 2018.

The Chase Freedom card

When signing up for the Chase Freedom Visa card people get a $150 bonus once they spend $500 over the first 90 days of having the card. They also earn 5% cash back each quarter in different categories, and all other purchases net them 1% cash back.

Cash back rewards do not expire and can be used as long as the card is valid. When cashing in rewards there is no limit on how much they need to bank to redeem their rewards. People can opt to get a statement credit or have their rewards transferred into their U.S. based checking or savings account via direct deposit.
