Citi Puts it All Together, Lets Cardholders Combine Rewards

If you`re a small business owner and a Citibank customer, life might be about to get a lot more rewarding.

Citibank is introducing the Citi ThankYou® Rewards for Small Business program, which will let customers put all their ThankYou points into one account – business credit cards, personal credit cards, and checking accounts. This will make it easier for Citibank customers to accrue reward points and provides an incentive for them to keep all their financial accounts at one bank.

Eligible business customers must have a CitiBusiness® Streamlined Checking or CitiBusiness Flexible Checking account. ThankYou Points can be earned after an account holder makes two CitiBusiness Online Bill Payments per month, or has two checks direct deposited every month. Small business owners can combine all the ThankYou points they earn from any eligible Citi credit card, and from business and consumer checking accounts. Customers must perform two or have two checks paid each month (or any combination). Small business owners will also be able to combine all their ThankYou Points earned from eligible Citi credit cards as well as consumer and small business banking accounts.

Putting All Your Points in One Basket

Of the value of this program, Maria Veltre, the Managing Director of Small Business at Citibank, said, “Points will add up faster and the ThankYou Points can be redeemed for everything from gift cards to travel to electronics. This is just another way we can reward our small business customers for choosing Citibank.”

American Express also lets its cardholders combine reward points between business charge cards and personal accounts. Daniel Tulbovich, one of the credit card experts here at Credit-Land.com, says that this feature lets small businesses quickly multiply their rewards, and that he uses it himself. “That`s how we earn many points – points from the business charge card and personal credit card all come to one rewards account. It`s a way for businesses to earn a lot of rewards.”

Blurring the Line between Home and Work

Citibank`s Veltre also said that “For many small business owners, their life is their business and their business is their life. In listening to our small business clients, it became clear that they want to earn rewards for things they do every day for their personal lives and business.”

This has probably never been more true than it is today, as the face of the workplace changes due to wireless technology and smartphones connecting people in ways that were unimaginable just ten or twenty years ago. More and more people are working from home, from coffee shops, or from anywhere that they can clock into the office via smartphone. It only makes sense that people want to blend their personal and business accounts the same way they blend their personal lives with work.

Promotional Point Extravaganza

As part of the launch of this program, Citibank is running a promotion now through June 30 offering new Citibank Business customers 40,000 ThankYou points just for signing up for a CitiBusiness Streamlined or Flexible checking account and one other service from the following list:

  • CitiBusiness Payroll Manager
  • Citi® Merchant Services
  • Remote Check Deposit
  • ACH Origination
  • Business Credit Account
  • Business Installment Loan

What can customers get in exchange for 40,000 ThankYou points? That number of points can be redeemed for up to $400 in gift cards from retailers like Amazon, Zappos, iTunes, GAP, Sephora, Barnes and Noble, and many more – but when customers start combining rewards between all their accounts, those rewards will be just the beginning.
