Discover card holders already love their Discover cards – it`s among one of the most popular cards in America, with a great track record of customer loyalty. Their pioneering cash back program revolutionized the credit card industry with the offer of cash rebates on a no-annual fee card. Now they are set to be even more popular, as they`ve just announced new ways to redeem rewards and new partners in the ShopDiscover network.
Most Discover cards give 1% cash back on all purchases after cardholders spend $3,000 a year, and 5% cash back on purchases in rotating categories, like groceries during the month of May, or amusement parks all summer long.
Spring Shopping Spree
In addition to getting 5% cash back on different purchases as the seasons change and getting 1% back on all other purchases, the ShopDiscover network allows Discover card holders to fatten up their cash back bonuses another way. In the ShopDiscover online mall, customers can shop for the things they`d buy anyway – shoes, electronics, clothes, house wares – through hundreds of retail partners. Buy them with the Discover card through Discover`s online portal and get 5%, 10%, sometimes even 15% or 20% cash back. Buying new shoes? Instead of going directly to Shoes.com, use your Discover card to pay for your purchase at ShopDiscover, and earn a 15% cash back bonus on your purchase. At the Apple store you can get 5% cash back.
The newest Cashback Bonus partners at Discover:
- Domino`s Pizza – get cash back for having pizza delivered to your door
- QVC – while you`re eating that pizza, do some shopping on your TV and get more cash back
- Under Armour – athletic apparel
- Aerie and 77 Kids – American Eagle`s lines ofsleepwear/lingerie (Aerie) and kids` clothes
Extra Seasonal Savings
This spring, the Cashback Bonus rotating category offering 5% back is restaurant and movie purchases, from April first until the end of June. In addition, during the month of May Discover card holders can get 5% back on all grocery purchases. Card holders much make sure to sign up for these programs, as they will not be automatically enrolled. The maximum amount of cash back available for restaurant and movie purchases is $75 and the maximum for groceries is $15, so card holders who maximize their shopping potential can get $90 back this spring.
Dana Traci, vice president of rewards, said “With our award-winning Cashback Bonus program, we continue to offer meaningful, relevant opportunities for card members to put more money in their pockets. We know our card members regularly use their cards at restaurants, movies and grocery stores and we`re focused on giving back to them in those categories.”
Discover On the Go
Also announced this week is a new iPad app for Discover card. It`s free, like most credit card apps, and it was the top financial category download during its first week. The app lets card members pay their bill, sign up for Cashback Bonus rotating category offers, and review their account information – all in a secure, easy-to-navigate format. Cashback Bonuses and Discover Miles rewards can be automatically redeemed using the app, which is one of three recent technology offerings by Discover, including intuitive design and improved navigation capabilities within its mobile interfaces.
