Double Down with Starwood and Caesars

Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) and Caesars Entertainment’s Total Rewards announced this week that they will be partnering up as of January 9. Next year travelers will be able to earn and redeem points with both programs.

SPG members can earn two Starpoints for every dollar spent at Caesars while also getting Total Reward credits. On the other hand, Total Rewards Elite members will earn one credit for every dollar spent at Starwood, along with standard Starpoints and 100 tier credits per stay.

The inside scoop

Travelers can register for this initiative on either the Starwood Preferred Guest  or Total Rewards websites. To register for this promotion travelers must be in enrolled in both programs. Membership is free.  Individuals who opt to earn miles rather than points with their SPG account are not eligible.

When the partnership officially starts members will be eligible to earn points and credits in both programs whether they book a room at a Starwood hotel or a Caesars Entertainment resort. Travelers can redeem their points or credits for stays at both hotel chains as well.

With the Total Rewards program guests can earn and redeem points for dining, shows, and in-hotel purchases, as well as gaming, whether they hit the slot machines or the craps table. SPG members can also use up to ten stays at Caesars Entertainment resorts to qualify for elite status.

Making special moments

As an added benefit, SPG members will have access to popular restaurants, shops and events at Caesars Entertainment’s Resorts in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Atlantic City through Moments by SPG. Members can also book special VIP stays and packages, including the Planet Hollywood Experience with Britney Spears, a weekend stay in the “Hangover” suite where the movie was filmed, and access to the Vegas Uncork’d Grand Tasting Party.

Platinum Members can also purchase a VIP Las Vegas weekend package as part of a special promotion SPG is running to launch the partnership. The package costs 15,000 points and includes a stay at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino or Caesars Palace, Paris in Las Vegas and tickets to see Jersey Boys, Celine Dion or Britney Spears.

Total Rewards is a loyalty program founded by Caesars Entertainment to provide rewards for gaming- related activities. Its portfolio includes 40 properties in the U.S. Starwood Preferred Guest includes nine brands with 1,150 hotels and resorts.
