Eight New Credit Cards Hit the Hawaiian Market

American Savings Bank, one of Hawaii’s largest banks, is partnering with First Bankcard to offer their 300,000 customers a new series of consumer and business credit cards.

The cards offer an introductory 0% interest rate for purchases during the first year and on balance transfers for the first six months. All the personal cards in this series are adorned with photographs taken by Clark Little, a local artist and award winning wave photographer.

The consumer cards

There will be three consumer cards offered to customers in the bank’s 57 branches. The Maximum Rewards Visa Card offers cardholders one point for every dollar they spend. There is no limit to how many points members can earn. When it comes time to redeem points, members can cash them in for cash, merchandise, gifts and travel. Points expire five years after the date they were earned.

The Platinum Edition Visa Card is not a rewards card, but it does come with Visa benefits including fraud protection, purchase protection and extended warranties. The third card in the series is a secured credit card for consumers who are looking to build credit. It comes with a secured credit line ranging from $300 and $5,000 depending on how much the customer deposits as collateral.

The businesses cards

There will be five business cards in the American Savings Bank lineup. The Business Edition Visa Card with Maximum Rewards offers small business a way to earn rewards on all their business-related purchases. They earn one point for every dollar spent. Points can be redeemed for everything from travel and merchandise to gift cards and cash back as a statement credit.

It also comes with a full suite of benefits including purchase protection, lost luggage insurance, travel accident insurance, car rental discounts and collision damage waiver. The same benefits are included with the Business Edition Visa Card, but it is not a rewards card.

The have also launched the VOX Business Card and VOX Commercial Edition Visa Card, which are targeted toward very specific business needs and can only be applied for via an American Savings small business representative.

These cards provide cardholders with a choice of minimum payment options, along with a high value credit line which can be used for purchases, travel and entertainment. A fifth commercial card is in the pipeline, slated to be released later this year.

American Savings Bank

Cards are only available to American Savings Bank customers that are Hawaii residents. The rewards program is also designed to support local Hawaiian merchants.
