Huntington Bank Launches Customizable Credit Card

Huntington Bank has expanded its credit card lineup this month with the release of the Voice™ MasterCard, a customizable credit card. With this card members can choose the rewards and benefits that are important to them, whether that’s earning triple rewards on purchases or getting a lower interest rate. Extended payment times and no annual fee is also part of the package.

Focus groups played a big role in the development of this card, with Huntington Bank asking their customers which benefits were the most important to them and their lifestyle. Earning more points, along with a lower APR were at the top of the list. Cardholders can choose which of these features they want to include on their card.

Enhanced earning power

The Voice credit card offers one point per dollar on most purchases, while members can earn three points for every dollar they spend in one of thirteen categories, including gas, groceries, entertainment, travel, utilities, pharmacy and home improvement and others outlined on their website.

The category can be changed during the first 30 days that the card is opened. It can also be changed at the beginning of each quarter, so folks can earn triple points on gas one quarter, and then switch to the home improvement category the next season if they have a big project coming up.

The amount of bonus points earned on purchases is capped at $2,000 per quarter. There is no limit on the amount of points cardholders can earn on everyday purchases which earn 1%. Reward points can be redeemed for cash, gift cards, merchandise and travel.

Paying less interest

Cardholders can choose to skip the rewards and instead opt to get a lower APR. Once approved, they will receive an APR that is 3% lower than the rate attached to the rewards earning card.

Regardless of the card consumers choose, the card also includes one extra day to make their payment, every month. If they take advantage of this benefit, it does not affect their interest rate or credit score.
