Marriott Rewards Members Save on Holiday Vacations and Shopping

Members of the Marriott Rewards program have a couple of ways to save this season. Folks who want to take a vacation can get a 25% point discount in select cities, and shoppers can use points to purchase presents for loved ones on their lists.

Seasonal Awards

If travelers have Marriott Rewards points saved up, they can get more value for them by using them in combination with Marriott’s Seasonal Awards program. This lets members book hotel rooms for 25% fewer reward points than usual, in select cities on certain dates.

Now through December 31, the discount is good in Washington DC, Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver. Starting January 1 and going through February 28, 2014, Seasonal Awards are available at hotels in the mid-Atlantic region including Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach and Norfolk. Visitors to Canada can stay in Toronto and Calgary for 25% less during January and February as well.

Marriott’s Category 1 properties start at 7,500 points per night, but with Seasonal Awards, Category 1 rooms can be booked for 5,625 points. The awards are good at participating Marriott properties across the company’s 14 hotel brands, including Autograph Collection Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield Inn by Marriott, JW Marriott, Renaissance Hotels, SpringHill Suites and TownPlace Suites.

No promotion codes are needed for members to book these specially priced rooms. When members book online at Marriott’s website the discount will be automatically applied to eligible purchases.

Shopping with points

Marriott Rewards members who are staying in town for the winter may prefer to spend their points on purchases. For them, Marriott has sweetened their pay with points program with new merchandise and discounts. Choose from name brand merchandise, gift cards, books and music starting at 5,000 points.

Shoppers don’t have to line up at dawn to score Black Friday discounts when they shop online with Marriott Rewards. The day after Thanksgiving, and the next Monday—known as Cyber Monday—Marriott Rewards members can save up to 66% on select items.

The Marriott Rewards pay with points site is made up of collections that are meant to make finding the perfect gift easy. Items are separated into curated catalogs, targeted to everyone from the electronic enthusiasts to the fashionistas. Categories include digital (with Apple products, cameras, etc.), fashion (featuring Fossil, Coach and Kate Spade), gifts cards and golf accessories.

This year for the first time, Marriott Rewards members outside of the United States can use their points to purchase gifts and have them delivered to their door. Marriott Rewards now ships to over 200 countries and territories.
