People planning vacations this summer may want to take advantage of special summer promotions being offered by Marriott Rewards, Ritz-Carlton Rewards and Hilton HHonors loyalty programs.
Guests have the chance to earn a free night for every two nights they stay at any of the Marriott or Ritz-Carlton locations. Ritz-Carlton, which is owned by Marriott, operates its own rewards program with its own terms and conditions—but the offers are similar for both. Hilton HHonors is giving members one free night for every consecutive five-night resort stay through their new “Resort Escapes” program.
Marriott Rewards Unexpected Bonus
When members of the Marriott Rewards program have two stays at any Marriott location between now and September 2, they will earn a free night after the second stay. That means they need to book two separate vacations—not just two nights in a row. A stay is defined as any consecutive nights spent during one reservation, and paid for at one time. One night is considered a stay when it has been booked and paid for separately.
That means if families are going on a road trip and spending a couple of nights in hotels along the way, they can rack up their two qualifying stays on the first and second nights in different locations. Members do need to make sure they are registered in advance for Marriott Rewards Unexpected Bonus. They can sign up at marriott.com until July 31—after that it’s too late to take advantage of the promotion.
Guests can earn up to two free nights with four qualifying stays. After each second stay, a free night will be added to their Marriott Rewards account. The free nights can be used at any Marriott category 1-5 hotel.
There are 3,600 Marriott hotels worldwide. Some of their brands include Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn and Suites, Courtyard and Renaissance. These are all under the Marriott brand umbrella and feature the Marriott tag at the end of their names. Staying at any of these hotels will qualify guests for the Unexpected Bonus reward.
The Ritz-Carlton is offering complimentary reward nights in much the same way. Up to two free nights can be earned, each one after the second qualifying stay at a Ritz-Carlton property. Nights can be redeemed at Tier 1-3 Ritz-Carlton hotels. Members must register in advance, but they have until September 30th to do so. The free night promotion for Ritz-Carlton runs from July 1st through October 31st.
Unlike other reward nights, these complimentary bonus nights are not transferrable and may not be given as gifts (a popular option for regular reward nights). Free night certificates will expire after a year, and there are some other restrictions. Full details can be found at www.ritzcarltonrewards.com/nights2013.
Hilton HHonors Resort Escapes
For families planning a resort getaway this summer, Hilton HHonors has introduced “Resort Escapes,” which gives a free night for every five night booking at any of the brand’s participating resort properties. Hilton properties include Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton, Embassy Suites Hotels, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Hotels, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Home2 Suites by Hilton and Hilton Grand Vacations.
This promotion runs now through September 30th and details can be found at the http://hhonors3.hilton.com/en/index.html
Reviewing for rewards
Marriott is also running a sweepstakes that rewards members for writing hotel reviews on the Marriott Rewards Insiders site. The Marriott Rewards Insiders Review Sweepstakes will give two grand prize trips consisting of a seven-night stay for two at a category 1-6 hotel, plus airline miles and a rental car discount—and other prizes, including reward points, are given every week.
Members can go to the Rewards Insiders site to find out more, sign up, and start writing those reviews. The sweepstakes ends June 30 and the review must be of a stay made between May 1 and June 30 of this year.
