Mercedes-Benz has partnered with United Airlines to give members of its Mileage Plus Premier airline loyalty program cash and miles if they lease or buy a new luxury car.
United Mileage Plus Premier members can get up to $5,000 when they buy or lease a new 2013 or 2014 Mercedes-Benz. They will also get 25,000 bonus miles if they purchase or lease a 2014 Mercedes-Ben E-class or CLS-class model vehicle by September 3.
New United Mileage Plus Premier requirements coming
United recently unveiled a change in their Mileage Plus program, adding a spending requirement in order to qualify for elite status. Beginning January 1, 2014, customers will have to spend $2,500 to $10,000 on qualifying purchases in order to maintain their level.
How much the customer needs to spend to maintain status is determined by the Premier level. Silver members need to spend a minimum of $2,500, Gold members must spend at least $5,000, Platinum membership requires spending of $7,500 and Premier 1K members must spend $10,000 each year.
All levels of United Mileage Plus Premier programs, Silver through Premier 1K, will receive the same incentives from any Mercedes-Benz USA dealership.
To take advantage of the offer, frequent flyers need to go to united.com/Mercedes and print out a savings certificate that must be turned in to the Mercedes dealer. On the site, they can also check eligibility status and validate their Premier membership, browse Mercedes models, and get full details on the incentive offers.
Frequent flyer miles worth a free flight
While all purchases and leases of select new 2013 or 2014 models come with incentives valued at up to $5,000, only a purchase or lease of an E or CLS class models offers the 25,000 bonus frequent flyer miles. After finalizing the purchase or lease, customers will have to wait six to eight weeks for miles to post to their account.
Those 25,000 miles can be traded in for a roundtrip domestic ticket for travel within the United States or saved toward a future flight.
