Catch Free Football with Barclaycard and DIRECTV

Add to Favorites:

Football fans who subscribe to DIRECTV can catch all the football they want, for free, when they are approved for a Barclaycard and spend $750 on the card before the end of the year.

The approach of autumn doesn’t just mean back-to-school season is upon us – football season is coming up too, and the NFL season-opener set to be played on September 5.

DIRECTV customers who subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket or NFL Sunday Ticket Max – special packages that give viewers access to all NFL Sunday afternoon games, an exclusive NFL Game Mix channel, NFL games on demand and on their mobile devices, and more subscriber-only features that no football fan wants to miss out on – will have their subscription fees reimbursed when they are approved for the NFL Extra Points credit card from Barclaycard US.

Ultimate Credit Card for Football Fans

The NFL Extra Points credit card offers football fans great money-saving features, including a zero percent APR on balance transfers for the first fifteen billing cycles and no annual fee. In addition, cardholders get special no-interest financing on game tickets, including season tickets, and 20 percent off at NFLshop.com. The NFL Extra Points card also gives one percent cash back on all purchases, plus the opportunity to earn reward points that can be redeemed for NFL memorabilia, merchandise, and tickets.

Besides all that, this partnership with DIRECTV is worth $200-$300 for NFL Sunday Ticket and NFL Sunday Ticket Max subscribers. After being approved for the Barclaycard, making $750 in purchases on the card before December 31, 2012 will result in a credit of $200 for NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers and $300 for NFL Sunday Ticket Max subscribers – the full cost of the service. That means subscribers get to see every Sunday afternoon NFL game for free all season long, including out-of-market games.

Alex Kaplan, vice president of marketing at DIRECTV, said in a press release, “We’re delighted to team up with Barclaycard US to provide our customers with this exciting offer. We truly value our NFL SUNDAY TICKET customers, and are always looking for ways to reward their loyalty with special promotions, especially one tied to a great program like the NFL Extra Points Card.”

Is Your Couch Ready for Some Football?

DIRECTV customers can log some serious couch time watching up to eight games at a time on the NFL Game Mix channel – and with this Barclaycard offer, they can do it for free.

One of the general managers at Barclaycard US, Surinder Singh, says of the promotion: “We’re thrilled to partner with DIRECTV to provide its most popular sports subscription service at no cost. This is an offer tailored to the needs of DIRECTV and its customers to ensure the benefits, level of service and quality they expect from this program.”

Can You Spend $750 between now and December 31?

Spending $750 on the NFL Extra Points card and being a current DIRECTV customer with a subscription to NFL Sunday Ticket are the only prerequisites to taking advantage of this offer. The serious football fanatic could easily spend $750 on game day snacks alone – here is a breakdown of a fantasy snack budget that any NFL couch potato could get behind (prices are estimated averages and will vary by region):

  • 1 case of beer: $18
  • 2 large pizzas: $20
  • 2 orders of buffalo wings: $16
  • Grand Total: $54 per Sunday afternoon

Sunday afternoons between the September 5th NFL opener and the December 30th deadline for spending $750 on the NFL Extra points credit card: 17

$54 x 17 = $918

Football fans shouldn’t wait to take advantage of this offer – and while they are at it, they should also transfer any lingering balances from other credit cards, to fully take advantage of the features of the NFL Extra Points card. Transferring a balance can save customers hundreds of dollar on top of the money they’ll save already with this offer from DIRECTV and Barclaycard.
