Credit cards with a 0% APR on balance transfers enable you to pay no interest while you pay down your balance within a stipulated period of time. If you manage to pay the entire balance in full within the promo period, you will pay nothing in interest. If you haven't paid your balance after the promo period, the interest will start to apply after the promo period and you will pay down the rest of your balance on the standard rate.
For example, if you transfer $3,000 on a new card, pay down $1,500 within the promo period, after the promo period you will continue paying down the balance on the standard rate. That's why it is highly recommended to pay the balance in full within the promo period if it's possible.
