Orbitz, the online travel booking site, has introduced the Orbitz Rewards Visa card which allows travelers to earn up to 10% in Orbucks rewards when using the site’s mobile app or 7% when using the website to book trips. All other purchases earn 2%.
There is no annual fee for the card and cardholders do not have to deal with blackout dates when booking trips. There is also no foreign transaction fee.
More rewards with the app
Last year Orbitz launched their rewards program, offering members up to 5% when they book with the app and 3% when using their computer. With the Orbitz Rewards Visa card, users earn additional travel rewards with the app getting them the most Orbucks, the site’s reward currency which can be used to book future trips.
Travelers who use their app to book hotel rooms earn 10% back, while those using the web portal get 8%. When booking flights, app users receive 7% back and those using the portal earn 6%. The app is free at the app store and available for both iPhones and Android devices.
Orbucks show up in accounts as soon as they are earned and can be redeemed right away for hotel rooms. Members can earn points on a flight, and then use them toward the hotel for the same trip. Orbucks expire a year from the date they were earned.
While earning rewards, travelers also continue to earn frequent flyer miles. After spending $200, members receive a $50 statement credit. They can also earn $25 in Orbucks when they refer a friend to the rewards program.
Cardholders automatically become Star-level members in the Orbitz Reward program, allowing them access to additional benefits, including hotel upgrades and free amenities.
They also receive:
Reimbursement for lost luggage
Security and protection services, including zero fraud liability
Travel accident insurance
In hotel burglary coverage
Car rental collision damage waiver
Orbitz is a travel website launched in 2001. It allows consumers to search for flights, hotels, car rentals, cruises and vacation packages. This card is issued in conjunction with Alliance Data Retail Services, which is a provider of branded credit cards.
