The SKYPASS Visa Signature Card from U.S. Bank and Korean Air is offering cardholders a 30,000 mile sign-up bonus through the end of May.
This is the biggest sign-on bonus ever offered by the program. The promotion was designed to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Korean Air’s SKYPASS frequent flyer program. New cardholders will be awarded the 30,000 miles when they make their first purchase with the card. There is no minimum spending requirement to get the mileage bonus.
The card does has an annual fee of $80, which is not waived the first year, and it carries a variable APR of between 12.99% and 19.99% depending on creditworthiness. This APR applies to both purchases and balance transfers.
The miles can be used on Korean Air flights, or put towards tickets on any SkyTeam alliance partner airlines. The SkyTeam alliance is made up of 20 airlines, including Delta, AirFrance, AeroMexico, Aeroflot, Alitalia, China Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. Frequent flyer miles are redeemable for airfare or flight upgrades on SkyTeam flights. There is no limit to the amount of miles SKYPASS cardholders can accrue.
The promotion ends May 31, which will be the last day people can apply for the card and be eligible for the 30,000-mile anniversary bonus.
No foreign transaction fee and more
Besides the anniversary bonus being offered now, the SKYPASS Visa Signature card comes with several other travel-friendly benefits that come standard with the card year-round. There is no foreign transaction fee for purchases made outside the United States, making it a popular choice with international travelers. And each year upon renewal of membership, cardholders get 2,000 bonus miles.
All purchases with the card earn one mile per dollar, and Korean Air ticket purchases earn two miles per dollar. Members also receive two VIP Lounge coupons each year, good for free admittance to Korean Air’s exclusive travel lounges.
The SKYPASS card is equipped with an EMV chip—a more secure technology than magnetic stripes, and ready to use overseas, where EMV cards are standard.
As with all Visa Signature cards, cardmembers have access to travel and emergency assistance services and travel accident insurance. They can also call up the Visa Signature concierge line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for help making hotel or restaurant reservations, finding a pharmacy while traveling, designing a vacation itinerary, buying concert tickets, and more.
Visa also makes special offers available to Visa Signature cardholders, from discounts at hotels, movie theaters and shops to ticket packages for sports events. Another perk: U.S. Bank recently partnered with Experian to provide free monthly credit scores to cardholders.
