The Top Hotels and Brands

Finding a great hotel when traveling is not always easy, but U.S. News & World Report recently released their hotel picks in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. They also broke out the top hotels in popular luxury brands, including the Hyatt, Ritz Carlton, and Four Seasons.

The magazine looked at 2,500 hotels, but only 10% of luxury hotels made the cut. Each of the lists were compiled using reviews by guests and travel experts, looking at the amenities, customer service, extras and on-site attractions found at each hotel.

The best of the best

The top five properties within leading luxury hotel chains are:

  • Park Hyatt Chicago – Amenities and extras include the NoMI Kitchen restaurant, NoMI Spa, large rooms, friendly staff and participation in the Hyatt Gold Passport program.

  • Ritz-Carlton, Montreal – Guests can check out the greenhouse and pool, or dine in celebrity chef Daniel Boulud’s restaurant. There are also heated floors, steam showers and a 1900’s style décor.

  • Four Seasons Hotel Seattle – Offers high-end amenities, sleek guest rooms equipped with complimentary Internet access, a rooftop infinity pool and terrace, and the ART Restaurant serving Pacific Northwest cuisine.

  • Rosewood Hotel Georgia (Vancouver, British Columbia) – Rooms offer a city view and the concierges will arrange hikes, skiing trips, or tours of the Gastown district for guests. The Spa offers massage therapies, skin treatments and other therapies.

  • Waldorf Astoria Chicago  – came out ahead of the Waldorf Astoria in New York, providing guests with excellent customer service, Italian linens, services at the Elysian Spa, and an opportunity to dine at the Balsan on bistro-style cuisine.

Location, Location, Location

This time of year Caribbean vacations can be a dream come true, and the winners there are: Tortuga Bay (#1), Jamaica Inn (#2) and Spice Island Beach Resort (#3), Eden Rock, St. Barths (#4), and the  Hotel Saint-Barth Isle de France St. Barts (#5).
