American Express card holders who book travel through the American Express travel web site will notice that the site has been redesigned for easier navigation.
Users can now create a personalized profile, store preferences, and more easily book travel using the AmEx Pay with Points program. The program lets AmEx cardholders use Membership Rewards points to pay for travel – including airline tickets, hotel rooms, cruises, and vacation packages. A new “Travel Insiders” section lets travelers connect with customer service agents who are familiar with their specific travel destinations and interests.
The site redesign was done in partnership with Orbitz Worldwide, a travel service that helps customers find the best rates on flights, hotels, car rentals, and more. When American Express cardmembers book travel through Orbitz using their AmEx cards, they earn an extra Membership Reward point for every dollar spent.
Some of the website changes include:
- Improved Search Function – Users can now search the site without leaving the page they are on, which makes for a more streamlined browsing experience. A search bar on the upper-right corner of every page makes it easy for people to find what they’re looking for and pick up where they left off.
- Easier Pay with Points Interface – When members log in to the site, they will see how many Membership Rewards points they have available. When they book travel, they’ll see how many points a trip will cost so they can choose whether to pay in dollars or points. Members can pay for trips using some or all of their points. They’ll also be able to see how many points a planned trip will net them.
- Personal Profile – Each user will have their own profile and be able to easily track their travel history and available benefits. When members book travel, they will be alerted to special opportunities available to them, such as VIP lounge access. The profile saves information about seating preferences and airline loyalty program information.
Holiday Travel Sale
American Express members can take advantage of a special sale going on now through December 31. A number of hotels are offering up to 40% off. The Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas has rooms going for as little as $39 a night, and stays at London’s five-star Kensington Hotel are going for under $200 per night.
American Express business cards and consumer cards carry Membership Rewards points, but not all cards participate in the program, so AmEx members should check for eligibility before trying to book travel on the new site.
