What credit rating is required to apply for the Virgin America credit card? My credit is good and I need a card to earn miles for free flights.

You should have good or close to excellent credit to apply for this card. If you have good credit that is closer to fair credit, you may not qualify. As an alternative, you could consider a regular credit card with miles rewards that is good for your current credit rating. Regular cards are often cheaper than airline credit cards as they do not have such “free” perks like priority boarding, first checked bag free, or complementary access to airport lounges.

The card we can recommend is Discover it® Miles. It offers you 1.5 miles on all purchases and has an outstanding promo offer. All the miles that you’ve earned are matched at the end of the year (provided you are a new cardmember). So if you earned 30,000 miles, you’ll get 60,000 miles. These miles can be redeemed as a statement credit towards travel purchases so it’s really easy to earn a free flight with this card.
