Does this Discover card equal to a United Mileage Visa card? The reason I may be interested is because we are purchasing tickets on United Airlines for 9 people flying with us to Belize at the end of 2015. I would like us to earn the miles for all of the 9 passengers, not just ourselves. Our travel agent said the only way we can do this is to have a United Airlines card on which the purchases will be made. Please advise.

The Discover it® Miles is different from the United credit card in pricing terms and in the way rewards program works. The United card will allow you to earn 2 miles on United ticket purchases and only one and a half mile on all other purchases. So, if you are not going to fly before the trip… Continue reading

I love flying Korean Air and wanted to apply for the Korean Air Skypass Visa Signature card but it has $80 annual fee which I don’t like. The fee is not even waived for the first year! Can you recommend me a card without an annual fee that will earn miles on Korean Air flights?

A credit card with miles rewards that is issued by a major bank can be a good option for you. Miles rewards cards often come without annual fees, or fees are waived for the first year. Miles rewards cards are cheaper because they do not offer such benefits you might not use like priority boarding,… Continue reading

I often fly on Lufthansa and used to have their Miles and More card. But I declined it because the bank blocked my card after I made a purchase in Germany, even though I notified them about my journey in advance. I need a card which won’t be blocked while I’m abroad and which earn miles. Can you recommend one?

Answered on

You can consider the Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card. There should not be any problems with credit card use abroad. Just notify the bank about all places where you are going to travel, and the bank should not block the card. Continue reading
