What credit card can I apply for if I have never had a credit card before?

Answered on

There are many cards designed for people with limited or no credit history. If you are in school, a student card is probably the best choice for you. There are also cards specifically for no credit or limited credit. These cards can have lower credit limits and higher APRs because the issuer is… Continue reading

I’ve got two questions: are there any unsecured credit cards for high school students? And are there any unsecured gas credit cards for people with bad credit?

Answered on

Yes, there are unsecured credit cards for students. You can see them on the student credit cards page. You will likely not be approved for a gas credit card if you have bad credit. To qualify for a gas credit card your credit score should have at least an average credit score. Continue reading

Can I build a credit history with a prepaid card?

Answered on

No. Prepaid cards do not report to credit bureaus and have no effect on credit history or credit scores. That’s because they aren’t really credit cards. Money is loaded onto the card initially and the limit is equal to the deposit made on the card so no credit is actually extended. Continue reading

Hi Leo. My name is Alex. I am in a bit of a jam. I am trying to go to college and I am still short of money. I am also trying to enroll in the spring semester which starts in 2 days. What is the limit for the cash rewards card? And if approved how fast can I start making payments?

Answered on

The credit card limit depends on your annual income and creditworthiness. Usually banks look at an applicant’s credit history to determine the consumer’s creditworthiness. But since you have no credit history the main factor will be your annual income. No one can tell you in advance… Continue reading

I have no credit and was wondering what is the best option for someone like myself to fix that problem?

You can apply for any credit card on the limited/no credit page. The cards have high APRs for purchases and some of them have an annual fee, but  you will be able to build credit history and earn bonuses. If you are a student, you should consider student credit cards. These cards have lower APRs… Continue reading
