Just a couple of days ago we wrote about the partnership between American Express and Foursquare, citing the popularity and success of the social media pairing, which offers rewards to card members who sync their accounts. Now, American Express is offering even more benefits via social networking, in partnership with the TriBeCa Film Festival, coming to New York City later this month.

The TriBeCa Film Festival was founded by actor Robert DeNiro, producer Jane Rosenthal and her husband, investor Craig Hatkoff in the wake of the 9/11 attack, in an effort to help revitalize lower Manhattan through a celebration of culture and community. Since the first festival in 2002 it has been attended by more than 3.7 million people and generated about $725 million in economic activity for New York City.

Stalwart Sponsors

American Express is a founding sponsor of the TriBeCa film festival and has partnered with them each year to offer special deals and discounts to cardholders. This year that partnership will extend online and go mobile as card holders take advantage of rewards through phones and social media apps.

The Festival lasts 12 days, throughout which different offers will be made available exclusively to American Express card holders each day. Among the offers will be advance ticket sales, special screenings, and access to the full roster of films screened at the festival through

The Vice President of Entertainment Marketing and Sponsorships at American Express, Deborah Curtis, issued the following statement: “Whether it be a surprise invitation to a sold-out screening or offers from our merchant partners around Lower Manhattan and across the country, the TriBeCa Film Festival is a great way for American Express to deliver memorable experiences and value to our card members.”

Some of the special offers for Amex members include:

  • Dinner and a Movie – Amex card holders who can`t make it to a specific screening can get a special offer for dinner from and a movie from Redbox.
  • Lower Manhattan Merchants – Also kicking off on April 18, Amex members will receive special offers from select Lower Manhattan merchants.
  • Tweeting for Tickets – Beginning April 18, card holders can utilize their Twitter accounts to get free film tickets.

Family Fun Fest

On Saturday, April 28, from 10am till 6pm there will be a street festival and family fair on Greenwich Street that will include a free film screening, performing stages featuring Broadway show excerpts, food and drinks from local businesses, and much more free fun for all. The festival is free, but American Express card holders can check in through Foursquare and Twitter on festival day for special offers and discounts from participating merchants.

Any American Express card holder who hasn`t yet taken advantage of the special offers available through social network partnerships should sync their accounts today to start saving, whether or not they are attending the TriBeCa Film Festival. All you have to do is go to to link up your Foursquare, Twitter, and Facebook accounts with your American Express card, and then you`ll be able to take advantage of great offers like spend $15, get $5 back at certain merchants.
