New York City foodies, get ready. The Super(Duper)Market is back for a second year, setting up shop in SoHo this weekend with gourmet delicacies from 35 vendors around the country. The market, which spotlights artisanal and locally-sourced goods, is hosted by Paper magazine and sponsored by American Express and Target.
Last year’s event in Chelsea brought out families and food lovers alike for free activities, demos and tastings. This year, the market is moving to SoHo and will be located in a 4,000 square foot space at 268 Mulberry Street. It is open to the public from Friday, August 2 to Sunday, August 4.
If you want to enter for a chance to win two seats to a private American Express dinner on the first day of the festival, follow @AmericanExpress on twitter and “TwEAT for a seat” today from 9 am to 4 pm.
Target will sponsor a “Dish You Were Here!” booth featuring products from their Archer Farms collection. The line offers prepared foods inspired by Korean, Indian, French, Spanish, Mexican and Moroccan cuisine. Attendees can score free snacks and pick up recipe cards for dishes like Mango Curry Shrimp Pizza and Spiced Mexican Brownies at the Target booth.
Returning vendors include NYC locals Brooklyn Soda Works and Sour Puss Pickles and San Francisco’s Humphry Slocumbe, maker of unique ice cream flavors like olive oil, black sesame and peanut butter curry. From Springfield, Missouri, Askinosie Chocolate will satisfy a sweet tooth, while L.A.’s Health-Ade will serve up Kombucha for the healthy crowd. Some of the other vendors, listed by region, include:
Great Lakes Coffee
Big Spoon Roasters
Clare Crespo’s Crocheted Oyster Bar
Imperial Woodpecker Sno-Balls
Cynthia Rowley CuRious Candy
Pok Pok Som
Foodies can find black cotton candy, green tea marshmallows, Canadian maple syrup confections and vinegar drinks on the menu at various vendors.
Besides edibles, there will also be vintage kitchenware, camping dishes and even apparel from San Francisco’s Modern Appealing Clothing, an eclectic retailer that will sell Poco Dolce chocolates at their booth along with their other wares.
The market opens to the public at 11am on August 2 and runs through 4pm on August 4. For daily hours and more details, go to papermag.com.
