Rotating cash back categories at Chase and Discover will put some extra money in the pockets of people fixing up their homes this spring. Through the end of June, Discover is offering 5% cash back on purchases at home improvement stores, furniture stores, and Bed Bath & Beyond. Chase Freedom is offering 5% on dining and at Lowe’s.
Discover cardholders can update their home’s landscape or furnish a patio and get 5% back once they sign up by logging into their accounts online or calling customer service at 1-800-DISCOVER. Cash back bonuses are capped at $75 per quarter. After that, cardholders earn will 1% back on all purchases.
Discover it, the newest Discover card, has no annual fee and no fee for the first late payment. And cardholders can earn up to 20% cash back by shopping through ShopDiscover.com portal.
Celebrate with cash back
This spring and summer, there will be several special offers for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and graduates through ShopDiscover, including 25% cash back at ProFlowers (mom), 10% cash back at The Sports Authority (dad) and 10% cash back at Dell (grad).
These promotions are for a limited time only. Mother’s Day specials will apply April 10 through May 11, and Dads and Grads will run from May 15 through June 15.
The other big rotating cash back card player, Chase Freedom, is giving 5% cash back bonuses at Lowe’s and on dining this spring. So after loading up on supplies at the home improvement store, cardholders can relax at their favorite restaurant and get 5% back on up to $1,500 in spending.
Chase also offers unlimited 1% cash back on all purchases, including at Lowe’s and restaurants, even after the 5% cap has been reached. Cardholders must sign up for the seasonal savings via the Chase website or by calling the account center. This offer runs from April through the end of June.
Chase is currently offering a $100 cash back sign on bonus for new cardholders who spend at least $500 in the first three months they have the card. There is no annual fee for the Chase Freedom card.
