The Hyatt Credit Card from Chase Card Services announced some exciting changes to its reward program last week, like the ability to earn two points per dollar on restaurant, airline ticket and car rental purchases.

Jeff Zidell, vice president of Hyatt Gold Passport – Hyatt’s customer loyalty program – said in a press release, “our Hyatt Gold Passport members spend a considerable amount on dining, flying and renting cars, so we wanted to make those transactions more rewarding. In addition, we wanted to provide cardholders with a fast track to our most elite status so they have an opportunity to enjoy more of what makes staying at Hyatt a wonderful experience.”

Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Status

Hyatt has three levels of elite status for its members: Gold is the first elite level, and Gold members get five points per eligible dollar spent, free nights with no blackout dates, and a points-to-miles conversion they can use with any of more than 30 of Hyatt’s travel partners.

After five stays or 15 nights, Gold members become Platinum members, and get a 15 percent bonus on eligible spending, complimentary in-room Wi-Fi at Hyatt properties, guaranteed 72-hour room availability, and other special rewards after every third stay.

When they stay 50 nights or for 25 stays, Platinum members are upgraded to Diamond status, which gives a 30 percent bonus on spending, free Wi-Fi, guaranteed 48-hour room availability, and four annual suite upgrades.

Earn Elite Status Faster

Chase Hyatt cardholders will be eligible for elite status faster because under the new terms, they’ll get a two stay/five night credit when they spend $20,000 during a calendar year, and a three stay/five night credit when they spend $40,000 per year.

“These new enhancements give cardholders the ability to earn free nights and elite status faster and provide them with unmatched travel benefits,” Chase Card Services general manager Robin Schettini said. “We believe these enhancements, coupled with existing card benefits, will position the Hyatt Credit Card as the card of choice for travel rewards.”

The Hyatt card from Chase has a $75 annual fee, gives a free night’s stay on every cardholder anniversary, and has no limit on the amount of points a member can earn.

A No-Annual-Fee Hotel Credit Card

For customers who want to earn hotel rewards without paying an annual fee, the Citi Hilton HHonors Visa Signature card (the offer has expired) offers 40,000 HHonors Bonus points after spending $1,000 within four months of opening an account, six bonus points per dollar on spending at Hilton properties, three bonus points per dollar on supermarket, drugstore, and gas station purchases, and two points per dollar on all other spending, all for no annual fee.

Visa Signature also offers cardholders 24/7 concierge service, purchase protection, travel insurance, and other great benefits not offered by other cards. Citi Hilton HHonors points never expire and can also be redeemed for airfare, cruises, and other travel rewards.
