Travelers who want to check a bag for free, have extra time to get settled on their flight, and stretch their legs on the trip can now purchase all those perks in a package from Delta Airlines.

SkyMiles members can purchase Delta’s new Smart Travel Pack for $199 and get five of the airline’s most-requested upgrades on flights through January 5, 2014. People traveling together will get even greater value from the discounted bundle — up to eight travel companions on the same reservation will enjoy the following benefits:

  • One free checked bag per passenger: Each checked bag normally costs $25 one-way, so a party of four traveling together would save $200 on a round trip.

  • Preferred seating for all passengers: The primary ticket holder and his or her companions may select bulkhead and exit row seats, as well as window and aisle seats at the front of the cabin at no charge.

  • A discount on premium seats: With the bundle, Economy Comfort seats can be purchased for half price for domestic trips. The upgrades, which include more legroom and reclining capability, normally start at $9 each. The discount is 25% off on international routes.

  • Extra bonus miles for the primary traveler. The Skymiles member will receive a 20% mileage bonus on all flights booked during the promotion.

Travelers who buy the bundle will receive all the benefits on every flight from the date of purchase through January 5, with no limit on frequency of travel within the promotional period. Customers must include their SkyMiles member number when purchasing fares in order to receive the flight perks.

Passengers who don’t want to spring for the extras, can get similar benefits with a co-branded airline card like the Gold Delta SkyMiles card from American Express. Travelers can get a discount on baggage check and in-flight purchases, as well as priority boarding and bonuses with the card.
