Discover is rolling out a new rewards program letting people earn 1% cash back with their Discover debit card when they have a Cashback Checking account. With its launch, cardholders can now earn cash back on up to $3,000 in purchases every month, as long as they use their debit card.
With this rollout, everyone can now sign up for Discover’s Cashback Checking. In the past, it was only available to Discover cardholders, as well as deposit account customers, and personal loan customers. This initiative is seen as a way to up the ante for customers in terms of benefits and rewards.
“We know customers are looking for something truly different, which is why we created a checking account that not only rewards customers with cash back when they use their own money but also helps them save by not charging any fees,” said Arijit Roy, vice president of Deposits at Discover.
“Discover Cashback Checking was developed with the same great features and benefits for which our company is known, such as award-winning, 100% U.S.-based customer service and the peace of mind knowing we take proactive steps to safeguard your money and information,” he added.
Redeeming Rewards and More
When it comes time for people to redeem their rewards, they can cash them in for a credit to their Cashback Checking account or have it added to their Discover credit card account.
The cash back rewards are in addition to other benefits that come along with the Discover Cash Back program, including having no monthly fees and minimum balances to deal with once they are part of the program.
There are also no fees for paying bills online. Discover also provides cardholders with access to no fee ATM’s in the U.S. Their U.S. based customer service team is also available 24 hours, seven days a week.
People can access and manage their account via the Discover website and with their mobile device, letting them do everything from deposit checks to review their account activity.
