American Express has added Emirates Airlines to its portfolio of partners. American Express members can now transfer points to the airline’s frequent flyer program.

AmEx cardholders can earn a 25% bonus on points they transfer to Emirates Skywards by November 21. With this promotional offer 2,000 membership reward points equals 2,500 miles in the Skywards program.

Routes and destinations

During the promotional period, cardholders can book a roundtrip economy class ticket between New York and Dubai with 60,000 Skywards miles.

With the Skyward program flyers can book rewards tickets to over 136 destinations in North and South America, the Middle East, Europe, African Asia, and Pacific. The cities they visit include Paris and Rome.

The carrier has daily flights to destinations within the U.S., including Houston, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, Seattle, and New York. They will be adding a daily flight to Boston in March 2014.

Eligibility

The Emirates transfer point page has been set up so that the bonus is automatically applied to the transaction. Cardholders in the United States, France and England are eligible for the offer.

Emirates has partnerships with other airlines including Jet Airways, Alaska, JAL, Korean Air, EasyJet, Qantas, South African Airways and TAP. For American Express cardholders this means having more opportunities when it comes to redeeming miles and visiting international locations.

With this newest addition to their airline network, American Express has 20 airline transfer partners in the program, including Delta Airlines, AeroMexico and Air Canada.

More bonuses

Earlier this year American Express added Virgin America and British Airways as partners, and they are also running special transfer bonus offers with those airlines. Members receive a 20%  bonus when they transfer points to British Airways from now until the end of the year, and a 30% bonus when points go to Virgin Atlantic, up until November 30.

Emirates was founded in 1985. They airline has a fleet of wide-bodied aircraft, which includes the Airbus A380. The Skywards rewards program was started in 2000.
