New cardholders now get 50,000 bonus miles with the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard®, once they spend $2,500 on purchases. They have to make this spend within 90 days of getting their new card. With this upgrade earning these bonus miles is easier and faster, in the past cardholders earned 40,000 miles with a $2,000 spend during the first 90 days. They could then get an additional 10,000 miles if they spent $6,000 during the year.

Welcome bonuses are a great way to get earning rewards off to a great start, but earning points on day to day purchases can keep it going. With the Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World Elite Mastercard® people earn double miles when they stop at the gas station, eat out at restaurants and when making purchases via American Airlines.

Discounts, preferred boarding, and checked bags for free

With this card, people also get a $100 discount that can be used toward an American Airlines flight. The discount is not automatic, it is available once the cardholder spends $20,000 during the year, and they renew their credit card.

When traveling with American Airlines on domestic flights, and booking their trip using their Platinum Select World Elite MasterCard cardholders get their first bag checked for free. This perk can be used by up to four traveling companions as long as they are on the same reservation as the cardholder.

Getting on the airplane first can make a world of difference when you’re traveling, and with this card, people get preferred boarding.

Once in the air cardholders save 25% when ordering food and beverages while in the air as long as they are flying with American Airlines and using their credit card.

No foreign transaction fees

Traveling abroad can be expensive if cards come along with a foreign transaction fee, but with this card, people can use their cards overseas and not incur any additional fees.

The annual fee for this card is $99 but it is waived for the first year.
