The first American Express Unstaged event of the year will feature the band Vampire Weekend performing at the Roseland Ballroom in New York on April 28, the last night of the TriBeCa Film Festival. Emmy-nominated actor Steve Buscemi will direct the show.
The event will be streamed live at 9 pm EST at amexunstaged.com. Fans can watch it on YouTube mobile, the VEVO app for iPhone or iPad, or the American Express Channel – available through the American Express app on Samsung and LG televisions. The event closes the TriBeCa Film Festival, which is sponsored by American Express.
This is the twelfth concert in the American Express Unstaged series, which matches up directors with popular musicians and bands. Previous musician/director pairings have included Usher and Hamish Hamilton; The Killers and Werner Herzog; and Jack White and Gary Oldman.
Tickets for the event are available exclusively to American Express cardholders. All shows are streamed live to a global audience. Anyone can tune in via mobile device, computer or app.
Pre-show features and exclusive content
In the meantime, fans can see a concert trailer on the American Express Unstaged website this month before the show.
During the event, there will be a “Choose Your Cam” feature that will let people switch their point-of-view from the director’s stream to other vantage points for a unique viewing experience.
After the show, it will be rebroadcast on the site. There will also be clips available on YouTube, Twitter, XBOX Live, and the VEVO app.
New Vampire Weekend album comes out in May
Vampire Weekend’s latest album, “Modern Vampires of the City,” will be released on May 14. It’s the third one from the group, and features choirs and church organs along with pounding bass lines and drums.
