It is time your credit card becomes a lit more consumer friendly. A whole new range of laws under the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009 have been put into effect by the Federal Reserve authorized by the Act. Credit card industry is going to see massive reforms under these laws starting this Sunday. A few of the rules have already taken effect on February 22nd 2010, which included a 45 days` notice period for interest rate hike, the elimination of double cycle billing and restriction on getting credit card if the customer is under the age of 21.

Bank of America Corp and Visa Inc have announced a new payment program through mobiles that will be tested in New York City starting from next month. This will potentially make way for smartphones as a common fixture in the hands of shoppers in America just like the plastic cards. The US banking chain and the credit card brand are proposing something resembling a debit card rather than a charge card. Select participants will be supplied with small chips by Visa which will be installed in their smart phones. These will emit radio signals.

For households that are facing some financial problems, tossing out bank pitches happens almost automatically. But over the past few weeks special letters are being sent out to customers by the Chase bank with an offer which the customers have been urged not to refuse. According to the warning in large red letters, the debit card of the customers may not work the same way as expected any more even if the customer has just made a deposit. After August 15th, everyday debit card transactions that overdraw on the limit will not be authorized even during the case of emergency.
