Credit Card Targets New Investors
January

BetterInvesting, a non-profit firm that provides educational materials and services for new investors, has introduced a credit card that offers six months of no interest. What’s different about this cardthough is a percentage of each purchase goes toward educating people about how to make better investments.

The card is offered in partnership with UMB CardPartner, a division of UMB Bank that specializes in teaming up with nonprofits and other membership-based organizations to offer credit cards. A small percentage of each transaction goes to the organization that sponsored it, which is a good way to support a cause.

While the card has no annual fee and is available to anyone, members of BetterInvesting pay an $84 annual fee to access services and tools to help them better invest their money.

The fine print

After the six-month 0% interest introductory period, there is an APR of 12.99%. The card carries a balance transfer fee of 3% or $15, whichever is greater. The cash advance fee is 3% and has a minimum charge of $15 and a maximum of $50. Foreign transaction fees are 2%.
