New Cards From Diners Club
October
9

Diners Club has two new consumer rewards credit cards in its portfolio — the Diners Club Card Elite and Diners Club Card Premier.  People can earn up to three points per dollar on purchases based upon the card they sign up for. The cards also include transfer options to popular frequent flyer and hotel rewards programs and admission to airport lounges.

People who opt for the Diners Club Card Elite can earn three points per dollar spent on gas, groceries and drugstores, and one point for all other purchases. There is a $300 fee for this card, and if people want another card for a family member or friend it will cost an additional $150. The Diners Club Card Premier is $95 a year and offers one point on all purchases.

Points can be redeemed for merchandise, movies, sports, travel or to make a donation to the charity of their choice. Diners Club credit cards carry the MasterCard logo, and are accepted by all merchants that accept MasterCard. They are also outfitted with new chip and pin technology to help prevent identify theft and fraud.

Travel on Diners Club

People can use their points at a variety of domestic airlines and rewards programs, including Air Canada, Hawaiian, Southwest, Alaska, and Delta. There are also international options as well, including Aeroplan, Frontier, Icelandair, Korean, SAS, Virgin Atlantic, South African, British Airways, El Al, EVA and Thai.

Cardholders can also use their points to book rides on Amtrak or book rooms in participating programs, including Marriott Rewards Points, Starwood Preferred Guest Starpoints, and Hilton HHonors.

They also offer cardholders a tailored travel credit allowing them to fly on the airline of their choice with no blackout dates or no limit to the number of tickets they can get.  People who earn 50,000 or more points can create their own reward.

Additional perks

People get primary rental car collision insurance free of charge when booking a car with their Diners Card. A Personal Assistant Service is also included with the package, which can help people make reservations when they want to dine out, hit the spa or head out to the tennis court or the golf club.

Cardholders can also access airport lounges when they are traveling, as well as receiving rental discounts at Budget or Avis, 24-hour Roadside Assistance and Baggage Delay Insurance.

When booking a trip using their Diners Club travelers automatically get complimentary travel accident insurance. If their trip is canceled they may be eligible for trip cancellation reimbursement. Diners Club was the first travel and entertainment credit card launched in the ‘50s. It is now owned by Discover Financial Services.
