Chase have inked a multi-year extension with United Airlines to continue as the card issuer of the United MileagePlus credit card program, which lets cardholders earn miles and take advantage of travel perks, like free bag check, priority boarding and United Club passes.

The Visa cards in the portfolio include the United MileagePlus Explorer, United MileagePlus Explorer Business and United MileagePlus Club cards. This deal keeps the 20-year relationship in play. “This renewal reinforces our long-standing commitment to providing our mutual customers valuable rewards and travel privileges to get the most out of their travel,” said Eileen Serra, chief executive officer of Chase Card Services.”

Explore bonus miles, perks and more

With the Explorer card people can earn 30,000 bonus points when they spend 1,000 in the first three months of having the card. Cardholders also earn another 10,000 bonus miles after spending $25,000 during the year and 5,000 for adding an authorized user.

They also earn two miles when traveling on United and one point on everyday purchases – and points never expire. One free checked bag, priority boarding and no foreign transaction fees along with two United Club passes per year are also included with the package. For the first year there is no annual fee, and from then on its $95.

The United MileagePlus Club card lets you earn 1.5 miles on all purchases, and two miles on United Airlines tickets. Here, too, points don't expire as long as your account is open. People also get a free membership to the United Club, which includes free Wi-Fi, breakfast, afternoon snacks, and beverages, as well as assistance when traveling. They also get access to participating Star Alliance affiliated lounges around the globe.

Earning bonuses with the Business Explorer Card

With the business version of the United MileagePlus Explorer card people earn up to 50,000 bonus miles when spending $2,000 during the first three months, as well as another 10,000 miles when they spend at least $25,000 over the year.

Business owners earn two points per dollar when using their card at office supply stores, gas stations and restaurants, as well as when buying tickets with United. All other purchases earn one mile per dollar. The first bag is checked for free and there are no transaction fees to deal with when traveling abroad on this version as well.
