I’m planning a trip to Honolulu with American Airlines and would like to pay for a ticket with miles, but the thing is, I do not have any airline credit card and my credit score is not excellent, somewhere around 700. Do you think it is feasible?

You should not have problems with it. There are travel rewards credit cards that allow to earn miles on all purchases, and miles are redeemable for airfare and other travel expenses. For example, you may like the Discover it® Miles. Using this card, you will earn 1.5 miles on all purchases everywhere. So no need to worry if you do not travel often, you will earn your miles on everyday purchases anyway. The miles you’ve earned at the end of your first year will be matched: say you earn 30,000 miles, you get 60,000 miles. But this is only for the first year. You can start redeeming miles whenever you want – there are no limits. Simply buy your tickets with the Discover it Miles card and then apply your miles to the purchase. Don’t worry if you do not have enough miles to cover the cost of the ticket, you can redeem for a part of the ticket cost, which is better than nothing.
