Being a new mom, I’ve become an online shopping junkie. It’s hard to leave the house, and the convenience of ordering things from Gymboree dot com or other online baby clothing stores is priceless to me. But is there any danger to giving my credit card information online? What do I need to know about using a credit card for online shopping?

Many people worry about giving out sensitive person information online; but there are a few things to keep in mind and you will be able to surf – and shop – without a care in the world (except maybe about how much you are spending on baby clothes that will be outgrown quickly). The first and most important thing to remember is that you should never do financial business on an unsecure web connection. That means you should not be accessing your online bank accounts or making payments on a public Wi-Fi channel that is not password protected. Besides that, just make sure that you are shopping on a genuine, official website for the store you want to purchase from. Make sure it has security encryption in place and is not a phishing site.
