What exactly is a
premium CREDIT CARD?
Premium credit cards have long been associated with status and prestige. This image often comes from features like their metal build, sleek design, or the exclusivity of being difficult to qualify for. But the market has changed. In the past, some of the most elite cards were available only by invitation. Today, many of these top-tier options can be obtained simply by meeting certain income and credit requirements.
betting on PREMIUM CREDIT CARDS
If you are after prestigious credit cards, you may discover that there are quite a lot of them out there. Most of status credit cards are geared at frequent travelers and very expensive. You will generally need to pay $550-$695 for a best premium credit card. However, like many annual fee credit cards, premium credit cards pay for themselves when you actually use the card's benefits and rewards. Here are some questions you may wonder when choosing a premium credit card.
1. How do I get a premium credit card?
To begin with, you should have good income and excellent credit. Since high-end credit cards are not cheap, $550-$695 per year on average, you will need to have good income to pay for them. Also, these cards come with rewards and great sign-up bonuses, but to get them, you will have to spend a lot, like really a lot of money on your credit card. Only this way that crazy annual fee will be worth it. And of course, premium credit cards are loaded with perks, that's actually what you are paying for. If you are not going to use any of the offered perks, then you'd better skip premium credit cards and look for cheaper, general credit cards.
2. Do credit cards for average credit offer premium rewards and benefits?
General credit card for average credit can offer some rewards and benefits, but they are generally nothing compared to what premium cards have to offer. Exclusive credit cards are designed for travelers and most of their benefits are travel benefits, which may include access to lounges, annual travel credits or bonuses, TSA Precheck or Global Entry credits, or companion certificates. As for ongoing rewards, they may be more or less the same, but premium credit cards tend to grant more rewards in specific shopping categories like travel or entertainment.
3. How to get an excellent credit score?
That is not as easy as it may look at first sight. It requires time and dedication. To start with, all your credit card accounts should be in good standing. You should always make all monthly payments with all your creditors on time. Then look at your credit utilization ratio. Your goal is to keep it below 30% on each individual card and overall. Also, you should always monitor your credit reports in case of errors or simply to detect negative items and deal with them as fast as you can. Keeping credit cards in good standing is important but that's not the only thing that makes your credit score. A good mix of credit accounts can also help you boost your credit. For example, you can take a small personal loan and pay it off consistently on time.
