United Airlines has upgraded the United MileagePlus X app, which let people earn miles on day to day purchases, whether that’s groceries, a latte or something else. United Chase Visa cardholders can also increase their earning power due to the integration of the United Visa Rewards program into the design of the app. With the United Visa Rewards program, cardholders can take advantage of special offers being rolled out by a variety of retailers including Sam’s Club, Wayfair, and StubHub and earn more miles.

Right now United Chase Visa Cardholders can get 1000 bonus miles when they enroll their credit card into the Visa Rewards Program for the first time. This bonus is available from now until March 31, 2019.

Excitement is on high at United Airlines when it comes to the rollout of this new app which is seen as a way to give cardholders more ways to earn rewards. “We are excited to launch the new MileagePlus X app, which allows MileagePlus members to earn and redeem award miles in real time for their everyday purchases at hundreds of merchants across the U.S, matching the increased benefits our United Explorer Cardmembers received with the new credit card last summer,” said Luc Bondar, president of MileagePlus Holdings and vice president of loyalty at United Airlines.

Dining and shopping with MileagePlus

Eating out and shopping also factors into the design of the United MileagePlus X app, giving people additional ways to earn miles. With MileagePlus Dining they can quickly enroll in the program via the app, and then check out restaurants that are located nearby directly in the app.

On the other hand, when they go shopping they can check out MileagePlus Shopping, which provides them with a way to shop with more than 900 retailers.
Both MileagePlus Dining and MileagePlus Shopping let cardholders earn miles while on the go.

eGift Cards offer a 25% bonus

People can also buy eGift Cards via the MileagePlus X app which can be used at a wide range of retailers and restaurants. These eGift cards can be used for everything from shopping and dining, to transportation, lodging, and music.

United Chase Cardmembers can now also take advantage of an additional bonus – they earn a 25% bonus when they buy eGift Cards via the app.

Visa and United have been partnering for more than two decades. “As digitally-savvy individuals continue to help shape the future of digital commerce, Visa continues to work with United and Chase to bring new ways to reward consumers for their loyalty,” said Terry Angelos, SVP, loyalty & offers, Visa.

“At the same time, participating merchants will benefit from Visa Commerce Network’s ability to deliver custom solutions that will help increase their customer base and loyalty, ultimately helping them continue to grow their business,” he added.
