If you're looking for a great travel rewards credit card - one that offers unlimited earning opportunities, flexible redemption, and lots of perks - look no further. This card from Capital One has you covered. The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card continues to innovate becoming more and more attractive to frequent travelers and more rewarding for existing cardholders. The Venture Rewards card is not a co-branded credit card, but it combines features of an airline credit card and regular travel credit card. It allows fixed-value redemptions and transfers to over 15 airline and hotel transfer partners, offers lucrative sign-up bonus and generous miles earnings, travel benefits and protections - all at a rather low annual fee.

Here are five reasons to apply for the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card today:

FIRST REASON: You get double miles - everywhere

Most travel rewards credit cards give you one mile (or point) for every dollar you spend, and double miles only in certain spending categories, like travel, restaurants or gas stations purchases. But the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card gives you 2 miles for every dollar you spend. This makes it one of the most rewarding travel rewards cards on the market, with the potential to earn more miles than many other cards. To earn as many miles as possible, use it for everything - to pay bills, shop for groceries, put gas in your car, go out to eat, see movies - you get the idea.

Plus, Capital One recently updated their travel portal - Capital One Travel. All hotel and rental car purchases through the portal with the Venture Rewards card earn 5 miles per dollar! Those who use Capital One Entertainment, will earn 5 miles per dollar spent on Capital One Entertainment purchases through 12/31/25.

SECOND REASON: You can choose how to redeem your miles

The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card offers you three ways to redeem your miles for travel - and all of them are easy. The first way is to pay for travel directly through Capital One Travel. You can book hotel rooms, flights, and rent cars using your miles. The second way is to use your miles to pay for past travel purchases made with the Venture card. This way, you simply erase the charge from your statement (up to the amount of miles you have available). And the third way is to transfer earned miles to over 15+ travel loyalty programs.

Non-travel redemptions are also possible. You can use miles to make purchases at millions of online stores when you check out with PayPal. If you are an Amazon fan, you can pay for your Amazon purchases with miles at checkout. Both options will require you to link your Venture Rewards card to your PayPal or Amazon account, correspondingly.

THIRD REASON: You can earn two types of rewards for one purchase

When you book travel directly and pay upfront with your Venture card instead of booking through the Capital One Travel site, you can get more bang for your buck. That's because you get to earn loyalty points from a hotel or airline loyalty program, as well as miles from Capital One. For example, if you're a Hilton Honors member, you can earn Honors points and Capital One miles from the same purchase at a Hilton property. When you double up on earning rewards this way, you'll get more value out of both rewards programs.

However, keep in mind that Venture cardholders now earn 5 miles per dollar for hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. That means you can potentially earn more rewards even if you do not book through a loyalty program.

FOURTH REASON: No restrictions on redemptions

Not only are there no blackout dates or other restrictions when you book air travel or hotel rooms, but also you can use your miles for things that you might not otherwise be able to use rewards for. Think outside the box: bus tickets, train fare, renting apartments, stays at small bed-and-breakfasts, travel fees and surcharges - you can potentially use your miles to pay for any of these. As long as the merchant categorizes the purchase as a travel expense, you will be able to use miles to get reimbursed for past travel purchases. Just be sure to check with the merchant first, to make sure you'll be able to credit your reward miles to the purchase later.

Just keep in mind that you'll have 90 days from the date your travel purchase posts to your card account to redeem miles for past travel purchases. If you do not have enough miles to cover the full travel purchase, redemptions for a portion of the purchase amount are available.

FIFTH REASON: No fees, tons of benefits

All Capital One credit cards come with one big perk for travelers: they don't charge foreign transaction fees. That means you'll save around 2-3% on purchases made overseas, compared with credit cards that do charge that fee.

As for other fees, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card does have an annual fee, but it is rather low compared to other travel credit cards. Plus, that annual fee pays for plenty of benefits.

Flexibility is another great perk of this card; being able to use your miles on any airline or at any hotel gives you more options for redemption than other cards, like co-branded travel rewards credit cards. If you want to transfer your miles to an airline loyalty program, you have that option too. Capital One partners with 15+ travel loyalty programs.

Other benefits include Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit, zero fraud liability for unauthorized charges, travel concierge service*, access to special events through Visa Signature and Capital One Experiences, travel accident and auto rental insurance*, extended warranty coverage on purchases*, and 24-hour assistance* in the event your card is lost or stolen.

*Benefit available to accounts approved for the Visa Signature product, subject to terms, conditions, and exclusions in the Visa Signature Guide to Benefits. See Account Terms or Application Terms for more details. Terms, conditions and exclusions apply.

Bottom line

Besides these five reasons, there's one more big incentive to apply for the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card: it comes with a lucrative sign-up bonus. Currently, the offer is 75,000 bonus miles after you spend $4,000 on purchases within 3 months from account opening. The bonus is equal to $750 in travel and may potentially give more value when you transfer miles to participating loyalty programs.

Combining all those great benefits, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card has all the potential to become your primary travel card. So, do you really need another reason to apply? I don't think so.
