KLM Airlines is associated with Flying Blue loyalty program, which can be used to your advantage. The easiest way to benefit from the program is to earn miles by flying KLM or any SkyTeam airline. You can use Flying Blue miles for four different types of awards: promo awards, classic awards and round-the-world awards. Miles can buy you extra legroom, extra bags, lounge access and meals.
Flying Blue has four membership levels. You start at an entry level, which is called Explorer. The Elite status starts from the next level, Silver. The other levels in order of increase are Gold and Platinum. Elite status gives you access to extra benefits like discounts, priority boarding and faster security and passport clearance, complimentary lounge access and so on.
KLM Flying Blue is a program oriented towards Europe mostly. As of today, there is one Air France KLM credit card offered to the U.S. frequent flyers. Plus, Flying Blue partners with Membership Rewards from American Express, Ultimate Rewards (Chase), and Citi ThankYou Rewards which means members of these programs can transfer points to Flying Blue Miles.
Frequent flyers can also use travel rewards credit cards from other banks to save on flights with KLM.
