Many travel credit cards come with tempting perks, requiring some effort bonuses, a complicated rewards structure, and steep annual fees. If you are looking for simplicity and don't want to worry about math, the Discover it® Miles may be the card for you. This travel card from Discover comes with fixed rewards on all purchases, no-hassle welcome bonus offer, and no annual fee. It is probably the best Discover card for travel, especially if you do not travel a lot.

Here we are digging a bit deeper into the card's details to show how this card can work for you.

UNLIMITED DISCOVER MATCH® BONUS

The Discover it® Miles card has one of a kind welcome offer. The card does not require you to make a specific amount of purchases within a certain period of time. Instead, it gives you the freedom to spend and earn at your own pace and matches all the miles you've earned at the end of your first year. That's it - all miles earned during the first year of card membership will be matched at the end of the year, provided you are a new cardmember.

Taking that every dollar spent on the card nets 1.5 reward miles, you will basically earn 3 miles on all purchases in your first year. Let's talk numbers. If you, for example, spend $1,500 per month, you will earn 2,250 miles. That'll be 27,000 miles in one year. And with the Discover Match bonus, you will get extra 27,000 miles, which totals 54,000 miles! There's no cap on how many miles you can earn, so the more you earn, the more is matched. Your miles never expire.

UNLIMITED MILES ON ALL PURCHASES

Unlike some travel credit cards that usually offer different rewards rates on different categories (and often prioritize travel category), the Discover it® Miles card is a flat-rate card that earns 1.5 miles per $1 spent on every purchase. There are no categories and no limit to the number of miles you can earn. So you will always know that you get maximum regardless of the purchase you make.

Earned miles have no expiration. You won't lose your miles, even if you close your account. Discover will simply credit your account with the remaining rewards balance if your card is closed, which is a rare feature as many issuers expire all unused points when you close their card.

0% INTRODUCTORY INTEREST RATE

The Discover it® Miles has a 0% Intro APR for 15 months on purchases. When the introductory period is over, a go-to APR will be between 18.24% - 27.24% Variable APR. This promotional rate on purchases will help you maximize your fist year spendings as you won't need to pay off the card balance in full. However, we would still recommend you pay more than just a minimum every month to avoid any interest payments.

FLEXIBLE REDEMPTION OPTIONS

With the Discover it® Miles card, you can start redeeming your miles once you have at least 1 mile earned. So, once you are ready to redeem, you basically have these several options: travel statement credits, cash, statement credits, or use instantly at Amazon.com or PayPal.

When you choose to redeem your miles as a statement credit for your travel purchases, you can cover purchases made within the last 180 days. Travel purchases include airline tickets, hotel rooms, car rentals, travel agents, online travel sites, commuter transportation, restaurants, and gas stations.

If you need more flexibility, you can turn miles into cash or redeem them as a credit to your account to pay for all or part of your bill.

Another convenient way to redeem your miles is at Amazon.com checkout or when you pay using PayPal. Note that you will need to link your Discover it® Miles card to your Amazon or PayPal account to be able to use yor miles immediately with those services.

Whichever redemption option you choose, the value of the miles is always the same: 1 Mile = 1 penny.
