Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s have inked a deal with Mastercard bringing their combined consumer credit co-brand portfolio into the Mastercard network. Last year Bass Pro Shops acquired Cabela’s, and at that time Bass Pro Shops had their portfolio with Mastercard, while Cabela’s was on the Visa network. And with the signing of this deal, the outdoor retailer will be consolidating all their credit cards with Mastercard.
Cabela’s transition to the Mastercard network is slated to happen before 2019. That said, for Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s CLUB cardholders it will be business as usual when it comes to using their cards and earning reward points at both stores.
Both retailers already provide their cardholders with a wide range of rewards, including up to 3% back depending on the credit card they have. But with the addition of the Mastercard network, they also get access to a variety of benefits and experiences that are part of the network. “We are thrilled to welcome this premiere portfolio to the Mastercard family,” said Craig Vosburg, president, North America, Mastercard.
“Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s are two iconic brands that have created a best-in-class experience for consumers with their superior products, dynamic locations, unique experiences and outstanding customer service. We look forward to partnering with them to build a program focused on loyalty and outstanding customer service, as well as working to meaningfully advance conservation efforts and introduce families to the outdoors,” he added.
Conservation, conservation, conservation
This partnership is seen as a way to make conservation an integral component of Cabela’s mission as it already is with Bass Pro Shops and their customers. “Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s customers are strong supporters of the outdoors and conservation. We are excited to partner with a company like Mastercard that shares in these passions,” said Johnny Morris, Bass Pro founder, and CEO.
“Our partnership with Mastercard will allow us to bring Priceless experiences to our loyal customers and unite sportsmen and women together to collectively advance conservation.”
Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s are expected to come together to create programs that help involve their cardholders in conservation-related endeavors, like supporting conservation education initiatives at Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium.
